Migraine Mini: Fireworks in the Upper Quadrant

$45.00
1 available

Migraine attacks happen in four stages: prodrome, aura, headache, and postdrome. During the aura stage, a migraineur like me may see flashes of light and color or experience other visual disturbances. In some cases (maybe many cases??) the aura persists when our eyes are closed. My first few years of migraine attacks, all my visual aura occurred in the upper left quadrant of my field of vision; the first time it happened I thought the lights in the gymnasium had flickered. The lights looked "wibbley" which was the first of many words I invented in an attempt to describe the indescribable..

"Deep Blue" 4×6 inch mixed media on canvas.

This series is as much about the issues of drug prices as it is about my life with migraine disease. My maintenance medication has a sticker price of $1200 per month. Why do they cost so much? I assume they are made of gold… so I crafted these little golden pills. So each of 30 completed works of art costs as much as one day of my migraine meds: $40
